The knee joint is more than a simple hinge joint. It is designed to carry much of the force of bending such as stair climbing and rising from a seated position.

Knees are a functional combination of following elements:
  • Bones
  • Articular Cartilage
  • Meniscus
  • Ligaments
  • Muscles

Knee Injuries

The knee is the most common joint in the body to suffer injury. Many of these injuries are caused by overuse of muscles and ligaments.They also commonly occur during sports .

Common sports and age related injuries in the knee are:
  • Meniscal tears
  • Cartilage damage
  • Anterior cruciate ligament tears
  • Osteoarthritis
  • These knee injuries and conditions may require surgical intervention.
